Bridge piling now underway at Sunshine Motorway interchange

As part of the upgrade, two new bridges will be built over the Sunshine Motorway for the northbound and southbound carriageways of the Bruce Highway. The existing three-span bridges will be demolished and replaced with new bridges.

Piling works have now commenced at the interchange to prepare the foundation for the new structures to be built. Bridge construction activities at the interchange are being undertaken during the day works program with some activities including the mobilisation of the piling rig and concrete pours to be undertaken at night.

A third bridge will also be built over the western service road for a new eastbound exit ramp from the Bruce Highway to the Sunshine Motorway.

To maintain connectivity for residents using surrounding local roads, temporary traffic changes will be implemented while major construction occurs for construction on the Bruce Highway, Sunshine Motorway and future western service road.

Temporary traffic arrangements are currently in place for Cunning Road and Tanawha Road. Other localised traffic changes will be implemented in the coming months as construction progresses. This will affect local roads including Sippy Creek Road, Tanawha Road, Wilson Road and Tanawha Tourist Drive (near Kirby Court) and between Martin Road and Sippy Creek Road.
